Things to do in Kihei

Maui’s southwestern shore is home to the lovely town of Kihei. It’s one of the sunniest places in Hawaii! Swim and soak up the rays at the white sand beaches around Kihei’s best resort hotels. Whale watching is one of the major reasons to come visit Kihei, but there’s plenty to do for everyone. From charter boats to kayaking to snorkeling, there’s something to for everyone. Have a Kihei adventure or just relax and enjoy some shaved ice on the beach.

Humpback Whale Sanctuary

The protected Humpback Whale Sanctuary includes all shallow water around the Hawaiian Island. The sanctuary protects humpback whales and their habitat; the Visitor’s Center has exhibits including humpback whale songs, coral reef health, native Hawaiian plants and culture, and more. February includes World Whale Day, a parade that celebrates Maui’s humpback whales with crafts, live music, and food booths in Kalama Park.

Maui Brewing Company

Open since 2005, Maui Brewing Company offers a selection of handcrafted lagers and ales. In Kihei, they offer a state-of-the-art brewery and tasting room. They have two-dozen different beers on-tap, flowing straight from holding tanks. Maui Brewing Company also has brewery tours six times a day.

Kamaʻole Beach Park

There are three Kama’ole Beach Parks: Kama’ole I, II, and III. The rocky points between these beaches are the best spots for snorkeling in Kihei. These golden sand beaches are the perfect spot for beach days.

Kihei Fourth Fridays

Held on the Fourth Friday of every month, the Kihei Fourth Friday Town Party offers live music, dancing, arts & crafts, and food trucks and stands. Located at the Azeka Shopping Center, the event is free for all ages.
