About Kona International Airport
Ellison Onizuka Kona International Airport serves Western Hawaii Island: the town of Kailua-Kona as well as resorts in North Kona and South Kohala. KOA is the only major airport on the Hawaiian Islands where a ramp is used to board and deboard passengers, and much of the runway was built on relatively recent lava flow.
While Kona Airport is a smaller airport in Hawaii, there are still a number of shopping and dining options available including Cho’s Lei & Flowers, Laniakea by Centerplate, and Tiare’s Gift Shop.
