Things to do in Kapolei

Kapolei is a planned community within Honolulu County on the island of Oahu. Known as the island’s “second city”, this area is named after a volcanic cone (“Pu’u o Kapolei”). Sitting largely on former sugarcane and pineapple fields, this community has been attracting visitors off the beaten track since 1955.

As one of the fastest growing areas of Hawaii, this community on Oahu’s west coast has a huge amount of genuine natural beauty and attractions. One such natural attraction that is a favorite amongst locals and visitors alike is the Ko Olina Lagoons. The lagoons, located west of Kapolei, are made up of four man-made lagoons, which make for perfect swimming holes for children and snorkeling for all ages. There are always lifeguards on duty, making this a safe and fun place to spend the day with little ones. For a romantic beach with plenty of colorful fish, sea turtles, and other animals native to Hawaii, Paradise Cove Beach offers another seaside experience, with calm and shallow waters. This is one of the best places to catch the sunset, so plan your trip accordingly!

After a long day exploring Kapolei’s many beaches and other natural attractions, what better way to spend a Hawaiian night than at an authentic Polynesian dinner show? The FIA Polynesian Dinner includes many different parts of Polynesian culture, including hula dancing, traditional music, comedy, and narration by the chef and MC. This intimate experience also includes a delicious dinner buffet.

For those who want to get more into the swing of the island, Ko Olina Golf Club is less than 5 miles outside Kapolei. This championship golf course has been named by Golf Digest as one of the “Top 75 Resort Courses in the U.S.”, among other accolades.

Kapolei may not be as tourist-packed as Honolulu, but you’re sure to have an incredible time hanging around local spots. As always, SpeediShuttle has the fleet to accommodate groups of any size, and cars for any occasion. Whether you want transportation to and from the airport, or a car for a night on the town, we’ve got your back.
